LayerFS docs
Start with one paste.
Setting LayerFS up is a prompt for your coding agent. It reads the setup guide, builds what it needs and works on a Branch of its own, where every tool call is a Commit.
Set up LayerFS
- 1Copy the prompt
- 2Paste it into your agent
- 3It works on its own Branch
Prompt for your agentSet up LayerFS for this project and start using it for your work. 1. Read the setup guide in https://github.com/Ephemeral-AI-Lab/layerfs: sdk/js/README.md explains the JavaScript SDK, its native binding, the Linux daemon and the environment it reads (LAYERFS_HOME, LAYERFS_DOCKER, LAYERFS_IMAGE, LAYERFS_VOLUME, LAYERFS_DAEMON). 2. Check the requirements before you start: a Linux host, Docker Engine, Node 20 or newer, and a local ext4, xfs or btrfs filesystem for the Store. If one is missing, stop and tell me which. 3. Build what the guide says to build and set those variables. 4. Run project.init once on this repository. It captures the whole tree, ignored files included, as main @ L0. 5. Fork a Branch for your work. From now on, use sdk.fs for file reads and edits, and for each Bash command mount a Workspace on your Branch, exec, commit, then unmount. 6. Check it worked: write a file on your Branch and confirm list_commits shows the Commit. Report what you ran and what each step returned. If a step fails, stop and give me the exact error; don't retry it on your own.
Needs a Linux host, Docker Engine and Node 20+
